Koffee With Karan Season 9 makes its final appearance on television tonight, October 14, 2026, marking the end of an era that began over two decades ago. The iconic chat show will air its premiere episode at 7 pm IST on JioHotstar, featuring Salman Khan as the guest alongside a surprise appearance by actor Karisma Kapoor.
The ninth and final season represents a significant milestone. Since its debut in 2004, Koffee With Karan has become the gold standard for Bollywood celebrity interviews. Host Karan Johar built the show into something resembling a cultural institution—a place where A-listers sat across from each other and the conversations often became the talk of the industry for weeks afterward.
For nearly two decades, audiences tuned in to watch the show’s signature rapid-fire questions, celebrity banter, and the occasional awkward moment that would trend on social media the next morning. The show’s closing chapter arriving now feels significant to the millions who’ve grown up watching it.
The Premiere Episode: Koffee With Karan Season 9 Kicks Off Strong
Salman Khan’s appearance as the premiere guest carries weight. The superstar has been a mainstay of Hindi cinema for over three decades. His episodes on the show have historically drawn massive viewership. Whether he’ll address recent projects, personal life, or industry happenings remains to be seen—but his track record on Koffee With Karan suggests the conversation will be spirited and unfiltered.
The surprise element comes in the form of Karisma Kapoor’s appearance. The 90s icon has maintained a lower profile in recent years compared to her peak years in cinema. Her presence in the premiere adds an unexpected layer to what’s already billed as a momentous episode.
The timing matters here. By placing both Salman and Karisma in the final season’s opening episode, the show’s producers have signalled they want to go out on a high note. Nostalgia mixed with star power is a proven formula for viewership.

The premiere airs exclusively on JioHotstar at 7 pm IST. The streaming platform has been the home for the show for several seasons now. For those who can’t tune in live, episodes typically become available for replay and on-demand viewing shortly after broadcast.

Two Decades of Bollywood Conversations
When Koffee With Karan first aired in 2004, it arrived as something fresh. Celebrity interviews on Indian television tended toward the formal and scripted. Johar’s format—intimate seating, rapid-fire questions, visible chemistry between host and guest—felt different.
The show accumulated a roster of legendary moments. Marriages have been announced on the couch. Feuds have simmered and occasionally boiled over. Actors have opened up about personal struggles in ways they rarely did in mainstream interviews. The format became so successful that it spawned imitators, though none quite captured the original’s appeal.
Over 200 episodes across nine seasons, the show’s archive reads like a chronicle of Hindi cinema’s social and professional landscape. Who sat with whom, what they said, what they didn’t say—all of it mattered in Bollywood’s ecosystem.
Why the Final Season Arrives Now
The decision to end Koffee With Karan after nine seasons comes as the entertainment industry shifts. Streaming platforms have fractured audiences. Social media creates faster, more immediate celebrity engagement. The traditional interview format faces competition from podcasts, YouTube channels, and unscripted celebrity content.
Karan Johar himself remains busy with film production and other ventures. A final season, strategically concluded, allows the show to exit on its own terms rather than fade out gradually.
